Robbie Williams shares heartbreaking text his teen daughter sent revealing her ‘biggest fear’
Robbie Williams has spoken about an emotional text message his teenage daughter Teddy Williams sent to him in which she expressed fears for her future.
The Angels and Rock DJ icon, 51, shares 13-year-old daughter Teddy with wife Adya Field.
Teddy has followed in her famous parents’ footsteps, pursuing fame with a role in the Christmas movie Tinsel Town, alongside Rebel Wilson and Kiefer Sutherland.
In an interview with Scott Mills on Radio 2 this Friday, Robbie shared how his daughter is ‘desperate’ for fame, although he worries for her ‘oversensitive’ nature.
‘Ted in particular is so desperate for it,’ said Robbie of her ambition to find fame.
He then went on to share how Teddy had sent a text message to him at 2am, revealing her fears that she might turn out to be ‘nothing.’
Speaking to Scott, Robbie said: ‘I’ve never seen it so acute as I do with Ted. She sent me a text the other day. And it goes, let me get this.
‘It says – this was Thursday, six minutes past two in the morning, “Dad, what if I’m not a singer? It’s my biggest fear not to be a singer.”‘
‘Biggest capital letters. “What if I’m nothing?”‘
Robbie joked: ‘And I was like, “babe, you’re a nepo. You’ll be fine.”‘
‘That’s so good,’ replied Scott, before asking: ‘Does it worry you that she wants to be that, whatever it is?’
‘The only thing that worries me about it is, she’s incredibly sensitive,’ replied the former Take That star.
‘I am painfully, painfully sensitive. In some quarters, it would be deemed as being oversensitive. She is worse than me. And I’m worried about what words will do to her.’
He added: ‘For me, it was either this or stacking shelves at ASDA – so this, every single day and for Ted, she’s got options.
‘I’m just worried about words, and mean people, and – I’m not worried – because like I can steer her professionally so that’s okay, it’s just everything else that comes with it.
‘And also you know, besides all of that, it’s a wonderful, wonderful life and a wonderful, wonderful job and you get to be creative for a living, and I’m very grateful and incredibly lucky.’
In addition to their actress daughter, Robbie and Adya also share Charlie, 10, Coco, seven, and five-year-old Beau together.
The pair were married in 2010, and welcomed daughter Teddy two years later, in 2012.
Ayda’s own considerable acting career included roles in Days of Our Lives and Fresh Meat, to 2 Broke Girls and Back to You.
The couple have kept their children from the spotlight until recently, with Teddy only entering the public eye with the release of her Christmas film.
A source told The Sun: ‘Robbie and Ayda have been keen to keep her out of the spotlight for as long as possible, though – obscuring her face on social media etc – so this is all very much being driven by Teddy, who’s wanted to be on stage since she was old enough to talk!
‘It’s a small part but obviously is super-exciting, and everyone is really proud of her. She’s an absolutely lovely girl on and off screen, and has fitted in seamlessly into on-set life.’
