Tottenham boss Thomas Frank has endured a challenging week and gleeful Aston Villa fans had some fun with the Dane during their 2-1 win over the Londoners in the FA Cup
Aston Villa fans goaded Tottenham‘s under-fire boss, Thomas Frank, by chanting he was an Arsenal supporter after the midweek blunder that saw him pictured drinking from a cup bearing a Gunners badge.
Frank, 52, has endured a challenging start to life at Spurs after agreeing to leave Brentford for the north London outfit back in the summer. And things got even worse for the Dane in midweek when he was snapped drinking from a coffee cup with the Arsenal logo on before Wednesday night’s last-gasp 3-2 defeat away at Bournemouth.
Tottenham endured another chastening evening as they were dumped out of the FA Cup by Aston Villa on Saturday courtesy of first half goals from Morgan Rogers and Emi Buendia.

And to make matters even worse for Frank, he was also goaded by the jubilant away fans at the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium over his blunder. Chanting to the tune of ‘Go West’ by the Village People, Villa fans chanted, “Thomas Frank is an Arsenal fan”, during the first half.
Villa fans had the last laugh, too, as their side ran out 2-1 winners to advance to the fourth round of the FA Cup at Tottenham’s expense.
The sight of Frank drinking from an Arsenal-branded cup in midweek will have done little to endear the former Brentford man to Tottenham fans as they continue to struggle in the Premier League, with Antoine Semenyo’s 95th minute goal meaning Frank has won just seven of his 21 league games at Spurs.
Speaking after the game, Frank made it clear he had no idea about the cup, saying: “Definitely, I have not noticed it. I think it’s fair to say that we’re not winning every single football match so it would be absolutely, completely stupid of me to take a cup with Arsenal (on it). Is there anyone thinking I’ve done that? All the staff has done it.
“They’ve been in the changing room, the game before us. It’s normal to take a cup, give me an espresso, I do that before every game. I think actually it’s a little bit sad in football that I need to be asked a question about that.
“I think we’re definitely going in the wrong direction if we need to worry about me having a cup with another logo of another club, of course I’ll never do that. That’s extremely stupid.”
