FA Cup third round: Scores and latest updates
Good afternoon and welcome to Telegraph Sport’s live, minute-by-minute clockwatch for Saturday’s FA Cup third round action, with 18 matches taking place throughout the day.
Crystal Palace begin their title defence in one of four 12:15 kick-offs, making the trip to Macclesfield of the National League North, who are the lowest-ranked team left in the competition and one of just three non-league sides to reach this stage.
There is also an all-Premier League clash among the early games, with Everton hosting Sunderland two months on from their 1-1 draw in the league at the Stadium of Light.
Boreham Wood are the second non-league side involved this weekend, and the National League outfit are in action at 15:00, hosting Burton Albion of League One.
The second all-Premier League tie of the round also gets underway at 15:00, with Eddie Howe going up against his former side as Newcastle United host Bournemouth.
Elsewhere at the same time, Manchester City, Brentford, Fulham and Burnley make up the rest of the top-flight teams in action, while Frank Lampard’s Championship-leading Coventry City make the trip to fellow promotion hopefuls Stoke City.
Salford City’s home tie against Swindon Town was scheduled for this afternoon but was postponed yesterday because of frost.
The third and final non-league side taking part in the third round is Weston-super-Mare of the National League South, and they take on Grimsby Town at Blundell Park, a stadium which has already seen a famous victory over Manchester United this season.
That tie is one of four getting underway at 17:45, along with Aston Villa’s trip to the Tottenham Hotspur Stadium, with pressure mounting on home boss Thomas Frank.
Saturday’s action will conclude at the Valley at 20:00, with Liam Rosenior taking charge of his first match as Chelsea boss, with his side making the trip across the capital to face Charlton Athletic.
