Team USA’s Hilary Knight Mocks Trump Drama in Reunion With Hughes Brothers

Published

on

Team USA hockey stars Hilary Knight and Megan Keller reunited with men’s team members Jack and Quinn Hughes on Saturday Night Live to poke fun at the women’s feud with President Donald Trump.

“It was going to be just [me and Megan] but we thought we’d invite the guys too,” Knight told SNL guest host and Heated Rivalry star Connor Storrie on Saturday, February 28, to loud applause.

Storrie — who plays Russian hockey star Ilya Rozanov on Heated Rivalry — was first joined on stage by the Hughes brothers after praising the “amazing players’ from Team USA hockey during the Milan and Cortina Winter Olympic Games.

“I don’t think I pulled it off,” he said of his portrayal of a hockey star.

President Donald Trump made reference to the U.S. women’s hockey team during his 2026 State of the Union address after they declined the White House’s invitation.  While Trump, 79, was discussing how much the United States has been “winning” during his Tuesday, February 24, speech, he brought out the Team USA’s men’s hockey team out […]

Quinn and Jack — the latter of whom was still sporting a toothless grin after an injury in the gold medal game — interrupted Storrie, 26, to assure him he did a “great” job on Heated Rivalry.

“We’ve been so busy playing that we haven’t had time to see your show yet,” Jack, 24, admitted, with Quinn, 26, chiming in: “It’s about hockey, right?”

Storrie waited a beat before answering: “Kind of.”

The Heated Rivalry actor joked that his character Ilya may have “metaphorically” had his teeth knocked out like Jack, though likely for different reasons. Knight, 36, and Keller, 29, then showed up to assure Storrie that they’d “seen your show.”

Knight got her joke in about President Trump’s snub before Keller quipped that she wanted to give the boys “a little moment to shine” by coming out first on SNL.

“It’s very important,” Storrie agreed. “My show speaks to people who are not always represented in hockey so this is great to have actual hockey legends here tonight.”

Jack pointed out that it had been 46 years since the USA Hockey men’s team won a gold medal at the Winter Olympics.

“And the last time we did that was two whole Olympics ago,” Knight added to a huge cheer from the studio audience.

“Nice burn,” Jack admitted. “These gold medals aren’t just for us. They’re for all hockey fans.”

It has been an eventful week for the men and women of USA Hockey. On Sunday, February 22, the Hughes brothers took home a gold medal after an overtime victory against Team Canada at the 2026 Winter Olympics in Milan and Cortina.

The team’s win was almost immediately shrouded in controversy when FBI director Kash Patel joined the men in their locker room to celebrate the medal win. President Trump called to congratulate the men and made a crack about the Team USA women’s hockey players, who also won a gold medal in Milan and Cortina.

After inviting the men to visit the White House and attend his State of the Union speech, Trump quipped, “We have medals for you guys. I must tell you, we‘re going to have to bring the women’s team. [If I don’t invite them] I do believe I probably would be impeached.”

Several of the men’s players were seen laughing at Trump’s joke. Quinn later denied that there was any tension between the men and women’s teams.

“I’m glad you mentioned the women’s team again,” Quinn told Good Morning America on Tuesday. “We’re extremely happy for them. There’s a lot going on on social media right now surrounding our team and [the women’s team].”

He went on, “In the last couple summers, we did a lot of training with them and got to know [them] really well.”

His brother Jack reiterated his and Quinn’s support for the women’s team during a press conference on Wednesday, February 25.

“We have so much respect for the women’s team,” Jack said. “They have so much respect for us. We’re all just proud Americans. We’re happy that we both swept the Olympics.”

Jack and Quinn’s mother Ellen Hughes — who is a consultant for USA Hockey — subsequently downplayed the political significance of the men’s team partying with Patel and attending the State of the Union speech

“I think at the end of the day, it’s just about the country and the moment that these players, both the men and women, can bring so much unity to a group and to a country,” Ellen, 56, told Today on Tuesday. “People that cheered on that don’t watch hockey, people that have politics on one side or on the other side. And that’s all both the men’s team and the women’s team care about.”

Ellen argued that there is a camaraderie between the men and women’s hockey teams that transcends any potential political divide.

“If you could see what we see from the inside and the men and women sharing, you know, dorm rooms and halls and flex floors and the camaraderie and the synergy, and the way the women cheered on the men and the way the men cheered on the women,” she insisted. “That’s what it’s all about.”

She added, “The other things, they cannot control. They care about humanity. They care about unity and they care about the country. I hope everybody just understands what we did in the moment, both the men and women to bring this country together and let everybody cheer in the same direction.”

As the Team USA men’s hockey team stays embroiled in controversy, one apparently disgruntled fan has left a defaced Quinn Hughes jersey at the Hockey Hall of Fame. The jersey, whose photo is making the rounds via X, was from Hughes’ days with the Vancouver Canucks. It’s ripped down the middle with vulgar phrases written […]

Jack and Quinn were among the Team USA men’s hockey players to visit the White House and attend Trump’s State of the Union speech on Tuesday. During his remarks, Trump brought out the men’s team and credited them for making “the entire nation proud.” (Trump also mentioned the women’s gold medal victory and said they would “soon be coming to the White House.”)

The next day, Knight tackled the controversy over Trump’s initial snub during a press conference, calling his joke “distasteful and unfortunate.”

“I think, just the way women are represented, it’s a great teaching point to really shine light on how women should be championed for their amazing feats,” she told reporters. “And now I sort of have to sit, or anybody has to sit in front of you and explain someone else’s behavior. It’s not my responsibility.”

Saturday Night Live continues on NBC March 7 at 11.30 p.m. ET with host Ryan Gosling and musical guests Gorillaz.

14 Best Movies on Peacock Right Now (March 2026): Song Sung Blue and More

Wes Anderson is one of the most consistent directors of his generation — you know what to expect from each of his pictures, and they are all more or less pretty good. But he knocked it out of the park with Asteroid City, a loopy, Looney Tunes-inspired comedy that sneakily transforms into a moving meditation on art and the universal human need to tell stories.

At a young astronomers’ convention in the titular desert city, a UFO suddenly appears and takes a meteorite from a crater in the town’s center. This amazing extraterrestrial first contact makes national news, resulting in a cadre of assorted reporters, scientists and religious groups to visit the city to see if the UFO will return. In the middle of all this chaos, a recently widowed father, Woodrow (Jason Schwartzman), struggles to reconcile his still lingering grief with a blossoming romance with famous film actress Midge (Scarlett Johansson).

That’s the basic plot of Asteroid City, but there’s so much more going on, like a framing device that makes everything you’re watching an elaborate play that’s also being filmed as a television documentary. Confused? Well, that’s only natural, but it’s also what makes Asteroid City so effective, moving — and strikingly different from the director’s previous works. With a cast that includes Tom Hanks, Tilda Swinton, Adrien Brody and Margot Robbie, the movie is packed with enough starpower to keep you engaged, even when you get a little lost in its surreal story.

Delroy Lindo has addressed the controversial moment when he and Michael B. Jordan stood onstage at the BAFTA Awards and Tourette’s advocate John Davidson shouted the n-word at them. While joining ‘Sinners’ director Ryan Coogler onstage at the 2026 NAACP Image Awards on Feb. 28, Delroy paused to acknowledge the outpouring support. Michael B., who also attended the annual ceremony, seemingly chimed in, offering a simple response that fans can’t stop talking about.

Delroy Lindo Breaks His Silence On BAFTA Awards Controversy

While onstage at the NAACP Image Awards, Delroy Lindo thanked everyone for their support after John Davidson shouted the n-word at him and Michael B. Jordan at the BAFTA Awards in February. Lindo received a standing ovation during the ceremony, telling the crowd it meant a lot to see so many people show love.

“Before we start, I’d just like to officially say, we appreciate — I appreciate — we appreciate all the support and the love that we have been shown in the aftermath of what happened last weekend,” Delroy during the NAACP Awards.

From there, Delroy highlighted the sense of the community at the NAACP Image Awards.

“It means a lot to us. It is an honor to be here amongst our people this evening.” Lindo continued, “Among so many people who have shown us such incredible support. And it’s a classic case of something that could be very negative becoming very positive.”

Michael B. Jordan Embraces Black Excellence & Focuses On Positivity

Michael B. Jordan had a lot to celebrate at the NAACP Image Awards, taking home Entertainer of the Year and Outstanding Actor in a Motion Picture. While accepting the Outstanding Actor Award, Michael dedicated it to the late Chadwick Boseman and, in the middle of thanking his team and family, he made sure to mention how much “he loves being Black.” The audience went wild with cheers, and fans are sharing the moment all over social media.

John Davidson Breaks Silence & Explains Tics Following Backlash Over BAFTA Incident

Delroy Lindo and Michael B. Jordan’s comments come after John Davidson spoke out about the BAFTA Awards incident. Davidson thanked BAFTA for giving the audience a heads-up about his Tourette’s and explained that his tics are involuntary. He also thanked the audience for welcoming him at the event. Davidson added that he feels “deeply mortified” about those who think his tics were intentional. The Tourette’s advocate said he left the BAFTA ceremony early because his tics were causing “distress.”

“I was in attendance to celebrate the film of my life, I Swear, which, more than any film or TV documentary, explains the origins, condition, traits, and manifestations of Tourette Syndrome,” John Davidson reportedly said in the statement. He continued, “I have spent my life trying to support and empower the Tourette’s community and to teach empathy, kindness, and understanding from others, and I will continue to do so.”

Variety reported that Davidson also shouted other offensive things during the show, like “shut the f*** up” and “f*** you” during a family and kids’ movie win announcement. The BAFTA Awards also caught heat for leaving Davidson’s racial slur at Delroy and Michael B. in the broadcast, even though they appeared to cut other remarks out like “Free Palestine” from the event.

Craving More ‘Frankenstein’? This Oscar-Nominated Horror Epic Just Found a Streaming Home

Published

on

The creature, played by Robert De Niro, reading a book in 'Mary Shelley's Frankenstein'

Frankenstein is more alive than ever these days. The Bride!, Maggie Gyllenhaal‘s take on the Mary Shelley mythos, is hitting theaters next week, while Guillermo del Toro‘s more traditional adaptation of the novel debuted on Netflix late last year — and is up for nine Oscars, including Best Picture and Best Actor for the movie’s monster, Jacob Elordi. And while the Academy Awards have traditionally not been a welcoming place for horror, another Frankenstein movie got a nod from the Academy back in 1994, and you can catch it at its new streaming home.

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein followed in the wake of Francis Ford Coppola‘s phantasmagorical Bram Stoker’s Dracula, which was a hit with critics and audiences in 1992. Coppola was a producer on Frankenstein, which was armed with a surefire creative team: Kenneth Branagh, already well-regarded for his Shakespeare adaptations, was set to star and direct, while the script was by Frank Darabont, whose adaptation of The Shawshank Redemption hit theaters a month earlier. The cast included Oscar nominees Tom Hulce, Ian Holm, and Helena Bonham Carter, and featured Robert De Niro in the showy role of the monster. De Niro’s grisly makeup, which greatly diverges from the popular conception of the flat-topped, bolt-necked monster, was nominated for an Academy Award, but lost to Ed Wood.

While 1931’s iconic Frankenstein might have won an Oscar for Best Makeup, the category wasn’t introduced until the 1980s. The first Frankenstein film to get an Oscar nod was 1935’s Bride of Frankenstein, which earned a nomination for Best Sound Recording. Another Frankenstein movie wouldn’t be nominated until 1974, when Mel Brooks‘ Universal horror homage Young Frankenstein was nominated for Best Adapted Screenplay and Best Sound, both of which it lost. A Frankenstein movie of sorts, Gods and Monsters is the real-life story of the later years of Frankenstein and Bride of Frankenstein director James Whale; Ian McKellen earned a nod for Best Actor for his portrayal of Whale, while Lynn Redgrave was recognized for Best Supporting Actress for her role as Whale’s housemaid. The film actually won Best Adapted Screenplay, a first for a Frankenstein movie, for writer/director Bill Condon.

While Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein largely follows the book faithfully for much of its runtime, it takes a wild swerve in its final reel into a twisted homage to Bride of Frankenstein. Critical opinions were mixed, resulting in a 42% Rotten rating on Rotten Tomatoes, and it earned $112 million USD at the box office on a $45 million budget. Darabont was disappointed with the film, as well: he later called it “the best script I ever wrote and the worst movie I’ve ever seen.”

Mary Shelley’s Frankenstein is streaming on HBO Max as of March 1, 2026. Stay tuned to Collider for future updates.

Robert Cosby Previously Told His Mother That He Was Using Hard Drugs To Help Him Get Through Life

The news of Robert’s death hit some “RHOSLC” watchers hard, considering the 23-year-old previously spoke with his mother about his addiction struggles in a season 5 episode that moved many to tears.

After admitting to taking drugs such as Xanax to help him “chill out,” Robert then told his mother that he uses drugs to help him feel something. “I just took half to chill me out, and then I had an Adderall to balance out the Xanax. … When I get high, it’s like adding seasoning to [my life],” he said.

In an October 2025 interview with Us Weekly, Mary discussed her moving scene with Robert and admitted that she was “truly shocked” to learn he’d been struggling so intensely with drugs. While surprised, Mary said that she relied on her faith to get her through. “I need God for that kind of support and that kind of help to get me through,” she said. “Because my tests and trials and my journey in life [are] way, way bigger than I make it out to be, so I need the higher help.”

Record producer Benny Blanco is no stranger to online scrutiny, and his latest viral moment proves that people notice every single detail. Photos of his dirty feet made the rounds on social media, sparking criticism over his hygiene.

Blanco is taking the time to defend himself and address the issue, explaining the reason why his feet were filthy.

Benny Blanco Says He Has ‘Great Feet’

On February 27, Blanco and Dave Burd a.k.a. Lil Dicky, were guests on “Jimmy Kimmel Live” to talk about their new podcast, “Friends Keep Secrets.” The conversation turned to the viral moment that originated from the pilot episode, wherein Blanco sat on a couch with dirty feet.

A screengrab of Blanco and his feet was shown on screen, and the producer quickly jumped in to defend himself. “Okay. First of all, it’s the facility’s fault, not mine,” he exclaimed. The “facility” he is referring to is Lil Dicky’s house, where they film the podcast.

Blanco then took off his shoe and sock, showing the audience his foot, which was clean, saying, “I have great feet.” He urged the cameraman to zoom in and inspect it.

“You should get an OnlyFans for that thing,” Kimmel jokingly added.

Lil Dicky Offered An Explanation

In the middle of the discussion about Blanco’s feet, Lil Dicky chimed in and explained that it was the first day of filming their podcast, and crew members were going in and out of his home to set up equipment. “On that day, it was dirty. You know how floors get,” the rapper noted.

Despite the explanation, users on social media said that Blanco should have washed his feet before appearing on camera. “It’s his podcast, but show some class,” one noted.

Another added, “Comfort is fine, but respect for shared spaces matters.”

Others noted another moment in the pilot episode, where Blanco farted into the microphone. “Who videos them farting and thinks ‘yep that makes great content to post online’,” one wrote. Another commented, “Gross, but on brand.”

The backlash over Blanco’s feet was immediate after the pilot episode of “Friends Keep Secrets” came out. As previously reported by The Blast, many users questioned Selena Gomez‘s decision to marry him. “You deserve better, Selena,” one user commented.

Many opined that Blanco has embarrassed Gomez in prior interviews, with one commenting, “He humiliates her every chance he gets.” Another user wrote, “She once said he spoils her and treats her well but honestly, that’s not everything. Appearance matters, and so does having a classy personality.”

Gomez didn’t address the controversy directly, instead choosing to post a video of herself giving Blanco a kiss, writing, “I fall more and more in love with you every day my love,” per The Blast.

Benny Blanco’s New Non-Podcast

In regard to “Friends Keep Secrets,” Blanco and Lil Dicky explain that it isn’t a podcast. Instead, they explain it as being a multimedia series. The two are also joined by Lil Dicky’s wife, Kristin Batalucco.

Lil Dicky said that when he hears the word “podcast,” his mind goes to people talking “in front of a microphone with headphones on.” Batalucco adds that in their multimedia show, they want themselves and their guests to be comfortable moving around and “letting their guard down” throughout the interview.

“If we do it right and everyone agrees with us, this will be the new standard of how these things are put out and shot,” Blanco explained to The Hollywood Reporter.
