Abdoulie Manneh set to sign for Birmingham in next 24 hours
Birmingham City have been one of the big spenders in the Championship since winning promotion and now appear to be on the verge of announcing a new signing.
Birmingham see off Cambridge in FA Cup thriller
FA Cup weekend offers a welcome distraction from league duty and Birmingham’s indifferent form has left them trailing in the hunt for the playoffs as the January window leaves questions to be answered for Chris Davies.
Intriguingly, Blues striker Kyogo Furuhashi has been at the centre of attention from former club Celtic, who were keen to take the Japan international on loan for the second half of the campaign.
Despite the Scottish Premiership holders initiating talks over a move, the Birmingham marksman chose to stay in the Midland and started against Cambridge United in the FA Cup on Saturday, getting himself a valuable goal in a 3-2 victory for the visitors.
Speaking post-match, Chris Davies paid tribute to his side as they generated some much-needed momentum following a trying period, stating: “I said to the players that today was all about ‘can we win after winning and build that momentum?’
“We got a great win last week and today was about continuing that with another win, and that winning feeling on the bus back to Birmingham. We’ve got it.”
One loss in five matches is more like it for Birmingham. Either way, it has been a frustrating campaign, and there is plenty of football still to be played before true reflections can be had on what constitutes a successful time of things for the newly-promoted outfit.
Looking to source new faces, Davies may now have found the man he is looking for after scouring the market for additional depth to help his squad.
Birmingham set to sign Abdoulie Manneh
According to Neil Moxley on GIVEMESPORT, Birmingham are set to wrap up a deal to sign Mjallby attacker Abdoulie Manneh, who will arrive at St Andrews within the next 24 hours to put pen to paper.
In a move likely to see Lewis Koumas sent back to Liverpool, Manneh is capable of playing on either flank and has registered 11 goals and four assists in 59 appearances for the Swedish outfit.

He’d be an upgrade on Kyogo…
Manneh has also scored three times in four appearances for the Gambian national team and is capable of playing on either flank or even as a centre-forward when called upon.
Bringing pace and variety in the final third, it remains to be seen whether the 21-year-old will go straight into a starting slot or if an initially bedding-in period will be required before he is up and running under Davies.
Following Kai Wagner’s arrival, Birmingham now look set to add another layer of talent to their side and may now be set to put themselves in a position to climb the table.
