Celtic Submit Offer to Sign Lorient Forward Mohamed Bamba

Celtic have reportedly made an offer to sign Lorient forward Mohamed Bamba, according to French outlet Ouest France.

After re-appointing O’Neill earlier this month, Celtic are in the market for reinforcements as they hope to back their new manager. It’s been a disappointing season for the Glasgow giants, and in order to catch Hearts at the top of the Scottish Premiership table, they might need some new additions before the market closes.

So far in the January window, Celtic have brought in just one player, with Julian Araujo joining the club from English Premier League side Bournemouth on loan for the rest of the season. The Bhoys appear to be working on further reinforcements, with attacking additions being eyed of late.

According to a report from French outlet Ouest France, Celtic have submitted an offer to sign Lorient forward Bamba, who has fallen out of favour with the Ligue 1 side. It’s claimed that a loan with an option to buy has been placed on the table.

Bamba, described as ‘incredible’, has just scored one goal this campaign for the French club. It’s been a disappointing season for the 24-year-old, but he has flourished for Lorient at times during his spell with the club. Last term, Bamba provided 10 goals and assists combined in Ligue 2, helping them gain promotion to the top flight.

During the 2023/2024 campaign, when Lorient were in Ligue 1, Bamba provided 11 goals and assists from just 16 appearances. It’s clear that the quality is there, but he’s struggled to become a guaranteed starter for the club this term.
