    Its one thing working on this stuff in the Navy…now after all these years of working and training im finding myself wanting to try out these projects instead of just being the guy maintaining or troubleshooting the gear.

    I think I would use those holes in the server rack feet to mount some heavy duty locking casters. Make life easy.

    I like your videos,but the esthetic design of this rack is just wrong and i'm talking about the front.They should mount bus bars at the back for batteries and leave the front clear where you have all the meters to be easy to read and monitor.Tieing that cable on the handle is just not what that handle was made for.

    @willprowse can I use a solar controller to take 48v server rack battery down to 12v to go to my 12v inverter… So I guess I’m asking can I use the solar controller as a 48 V to 12 V step down

    Will, this vid is money! this may not be portable but its Transportable, like a big toolbox!.. Im presently living in a rental awaiting prices to come down for the forever house, so something like this could easily be used in the rental and become the foundation for the dream house. I was looking at my rental house panel just to see how I could back feed UPS style. so take a split phase out to the AC charge, and split phase back in to net any solar.. I live in a lower sun area so it would be come a good grid backup and potential cost reducer off peak. Love to hear your comments on that.. Thank you.. Whats important about you is that you share the how to, but you also share the Why to, and the feedback of what to use and how to use it.. great job..I dont live in a sunny region b/c I have family all around me. so Im learning what I need to do to adapt for less solar, but have good backups/peak reducers.

    The only thing I would do differently is use an open server rack with locking casters on the bottom to make it easier to move around. Otherwise, it's a pretty sweet setup.

    Just bought this system with 8 415w solar panels and 2 rack mount batteries. Can't wait to get it installed. I'll be using it in a travel trailer. Should do everything i need. Just wish i had the money for two more batteries but being on disability im limited on what i can do.
