‘Thoughts across Bolton’ with those killed on Wigan Road
Four people, three of them young men in their teens and one of them a man in his 50s, died in the horrific crash on Wigan Road, Deane in the early hours of Sunday morning.
The Mayor of Bolton Cllr David Chadwick and leader of Bolton Council Cllr Nick Peel have joined those to speak in tribute to the lives lost and to support those effected.
In a joint statement, they said: “On behalf of the council, and the people of Bolton, we want to express our deepest condolences to those affected by the tragic road fatalities on Wigan Road.

“We have already seen the devastating impact this has had on those involved, and the nearby community who witnessed the aftermath of the incident.
“These events have a lasting impact, and our sincere thanks go to the emergency services who immediately attended the scene to provide support in difficult circumstances.
“This was a shocking incident for everyone, none more so than the families of those deceased, and those still in hospital.

“We know the thoughts of people across Bolton are with the friends and families of everyone affected.”
Those killed in the crash were named by the Bolton Council of Mosques as part of funeral announcement and have since been formally identified by Greater Manchester Police.
They are Jibrael Mukhtar, 18, Farhan Patel, 18, and Mohammed Danyaal,19, all from Bolton and taxi driver Masrob Ali, 54, from Blackburn.

GMP said their families are being supported by specially trained officers.
Five other people were taken to hospital after the crash and police have since confirmed that a 29-year-old woman suffered potentially life-threatening injuries and remains in hospital.
A 28-year-old woman and a 30-year-old man sustained serious injuries, while a 29-year-old man suffered minor injuries.
An 18-year-old man, who was a passenger in the Seat, also remains in hospital being treated for minor injuries.
