Yorkshire Dales restaurant among UK’s best for Sunday roast
The Angel at Hetton near Skipton, regarded as the UK’s original gastropub, is said to offer a Sunday lunch “nothing short of a showstopper” as the portions are “generous” and “moreish”.
Customers have said they left the eatery “with very full stomachs and big smiles” after tucking into the likes of crispy roast potatoes and cauliflower cheese.
Introducing its latest seasonal foodie guide, Muddy Stilettos wrote: “As the days grow colder and the nights draw in, there’s nothing better than a Sunday roast done right.

The travel and food experts shared: “This Michelin-starred restaurant in the heart of the Yorkshire Dales serves up generous portions of moreish, elegant dishes.
“The Scandi-style décor and friendly team create a warm, welcoming vibe – and the roast is nothing short of a showstopper.
“We’re talking 50-day-aged Waterford Farm côte de boeuf for two to share and all the trimmings.
“Crisp roast potatoes, meltingly delicious cauliflower cheese and pommes Boulangère, as well as the largest, lightest Yorkshire pudding you ever did see. Pre-order is essential. Roasts are served from midday to 1.30pm.”
The Angel at Hetton is said to be a place where “the finest ingredients are served in the warmest of surroundings” as it shares on its website that the Sunday roast’s will be the “highlight of the weekend”.
It explains: “The ancient inn has origins which date back to the 15th century, forming the basis of hundreds of years of delicious dining and drinking history.
“In recent years it has held the reputation of being the destination establishment, in one of the most exquisite corners of the North Yorkshire Dales.

But what do recent guests think? Over on Tripadvisor, the award-winning restaurant currently boasts a “very good” 4.5/5 rating based on 269 reviews – 198 of which are rated as “excellent”.
This visitor posted: “We had the best Sunday lunch ever so returned for the Tasting Dinner the following night which was as stellar!!! Simply divine and beautiful: perfection! Thank you!”
