Sunderland hold serious interest in signing bigger talent than Enzo Le Fee
Regis Le Bris will be hopeful that Sunderland can return to winning ways in the Premier League, having scraped by dramatically versus Everton to move forward in the FA Cup.
Now, it’s back to the bread and butter of league action, with the Black Cats unfortunately winless in their last five games in the gruelling competition, ever since they humbled Newcastle United 1-0 in the fierce Tyne-Wear Derby.
Despite the Frenchman once stating that it would be a quiet transfer window in terms of incomings, there are also some transfer rumours coming out of the Stadium of Light that could help Sunderland emerge from their recent slump in form.
Sunderland hold serious interest in new target
The rumour mill has kicked back into action when it comes to the Premier League newcomers, after a frantic summer window saw a new piece of transfer gossip come about like clockwork.
Reports have suggested that both Ferland Mendy and Tammy Abraham are on Sunderland’s agenda, as they look to bolster their defence and up front, with a combined £21m being the alleged fees that could bring both the Real Madrid defender and the Englishman to Wearside.
Alongside interest in both these targets surfacing, reports from Turkey also indicate that Sunderland look to be in for ex-Norwich City midfielder Gabriel Sara this January, with Le Bris’ men noted as being “seriously interested” in the Galatasaray playmaker.
It’s stated that Sara’s agent is ready to discuss the potential of a move, with Sunderland’s Premier League competitors in Fulham also noted as being keen on the services of the in-demand Brazilian.
If Sunderland were successful in landing the Galatasaray number eight, they could be about to land an even bigger talent than Enzo Le Fee, who is enduring an up-and-down stint in England at this point.
How Sara compares to Le Fee
Ever since Le Fee walked through the door in January of this year, the former Lorient man has consistently stood out as a spellbinding talent at the Stadium of Light.
The skilful 25-year-old effortlessly acclimatised to his new surroundings in the Championship, with one goal and three assists from 18 second-tier matches pushing the Black Cats over the line in their pursuit of promotion glory.
While he does have an equally impressive tally of three goals and four assists in all competitions this season, his horrific Panenka miss against Brentford earlier this month will have left a lasting bad taste, with Sunderland reporter James Copley labelling the comical penalty attempt as “pure arrogance.”
Sunderland would lose 3-0 at the G-Tech Community Stadium, with the game having been in the balance when Le Fee failed to pull off the audacious.
Sara, it must be said, is perhaps the more well-adjusted figure at the very top, someone who can provide a moment of magic from the midfield spots, without going too overboard, based on his electric spell in Istanbul to date.
Sara has more than proven himself as a dependable performer, plying his trade for the Super Lig giants, with this blistering effort – against one of Galatasaray’s most vicious rivals in Fenerbache – just one moment of class from his back catalogue, which has seen him collect a respectable 18 goal contributions from 71 games at Rams Park.
Adept at popping up all over the pitch like Le Fee, it would be a great January capture if Le Bris and Co. could tempt Sara back to England, considering he was hailed as a “magnificent” star for Norwich by EFL pundit Adrian Clarke, when amassing a stellar 21 goals and 17 assists in Norfolk.

Away from clearly having the output to back up these magical skills on the ball, which Le Fee isn’t always capable of doing, Le Bris will also love how adaptable and hard-working the South American is for his team’s cause, as he chases down his coveted signature, with the 26-year-old playing in nine different positions across his well-travelled career to date.
He was also noted as being an individual who “works hard” for the team and is a “top professional” by his ex-Carrow Road boss David Wagner, with a worry that Le Fee often wants to let his showboating do the talking, over being a committed team player, as was evidenced in his horror moment against the Bees.
Of course, Le Bris will keep selecting Le Fee, as he is capable of securing points for Sunderland singlehandedly with a moment of genius.
But, Sara could go down as an even better pick-up than the silky number 28, as he provides cover in various positions on the pitch, alongside being equally as enthralling to watch.
Sunderland hold talks about signing “incredible” £11m upgrade on Isidor
Regis Le Bris could pick up a big upgrade on Wilson Isidor as Sunderland chase after this incredible centre-forward.
