Bolton Council to take ‘all necessary measures’ after Wigan Road crash
In the early hours of last Sunday morning (January 11) a crash between two cars left four men dead and five others seriously injured.
Cllr Rabiya Jiva, executive cabinet member for stronger communities, spoke to say the council is “deeply saddened” by the tragedy which took place on Wigan Road.
Speaking at tonight’s full council meeting, she said: “Our thoughts and condolences go out to the families and loved ones of those affected by this unimaginable loss”.

She thanked Greater Manchester Police, Greater Manchester Fire and Rescue Service and the North West Ambulance Service for their “hard work managing such a challenging incident”.
Cllr Jiva said the council is committed to “ensuring all necessary measures are taken” to “prevent such incidents occurring again in the future”.
She said they will develop plans in partnership with Greater Manchester Road Safety Partnership and the police and take any recommendations they suggest.
She said that “continuing investigations will provide regular updates” and urged anyone who may have witnessed the incident or have footage of it to speak to police.
