Everton have now received the go-ahead to sign a Premier League rival in the January transfer window, according to recent reports.

Everton receive green light to sign £40m star

It’s been a window full of rumours and no conviction from Everton so far. The Toffees have a number of problems that they’ve still got to address in David Moyes‘ squad and that has seen targets like Youssef En-Nesyri and Callum Wilson emerge.

The latter could particularly be one to watch amid reports that he’s set to terminate his contract at West Ham, before searching for his next move.

A veteran Premier League striker these days, Wilson could offer Thierno Barry some much-needed guidance whilst providing Everton with the reliable goalscorer that they’ve been seeking.

Then there’s the case of En-Nesyri. Recent reports have claimed that Everton have submitted a loan offer with the option to buy the Fenerbahce man, but they’ll have to wait until the end of AFCON before potentially signing the Morocco international.

It’s no real surprise that the Toffees have turned their focus towards another striker this month. Although Barry is beginning to find his feet, the numbers don’t lie. Since joining the club for around £34m in the summer, the forward has scored just three Premier League goals.

If Moyes is to take the club back into the top-half, then he needs more consistency. And even if it’s not En-Nesyri or Wilson, it could be Wolverhampton Wanderers forward Jorgen Strand Larsen.

According to TeamTalk, The Friedkin Group are keen and Everton have been given the green light to sign Strand Larsen, who could cost just £40m this month following a dramatic price drop in the Midlands.

“Superb” Strand Larsen would find form at Everton

On paper, some may be quick to point out that Everton would be signing a struggling striker, but that doesn’t tell the whole story with Strand Larsen.

The Norwegian has been part of a struggling Wolves side all season and one only just finding their feet under Rob Edwards. Going forward, they’ve particularly struggled and Strand Larsen is a striker who needs service. Everton would offer him exactly that,

The numbers suggest that when chances were created last season, Strand Larsen was clinical enough to outperform his expected goals and hit 14 for the campaign.

This time around, whilst he hasn’t been as clinical, he has only been expected to score around three goals – highlighting how blunt Wolves have been going forward.

The Toffees are looking to strengthen their backline.

Dubbed “superb” by Alan Shearer last season, Everton should look at the previous campaign as a solid indication of Strand Larsen’s talents. Given that his price has reportedly dropped to around £40m too, the Toffees could land a bargain deal.
