Lakeland 's wireless gadget keeps me warm for less than 40p

Much like brooches, which she asked me about after reading about them in Enid Blyton books, shawls seem to belong to a bygone era. I wasn’t sure how much use I’d get from one, but since having my kids I really feel the cold, and I can’t resist a gadget that promises some warmth through winter.

So, when the snow and ice arrived, the Lakeland Staysnug Battery Operated Heated Shawl became every bit a 2026 necessity. A wireless heated throw meets an electric poncho, it’s ideal for walking around the house, wearing it in the garden on chilly evenings, or walking the dog at the crack of dawn.

It’s designed for portable comfort, whether you’re in the house or on the move.

Powered by a small chargeable battery pack, I wear the heated shawl wherever I want some extra warmth, but I’m not somewhere I can plug in my heated throw – at the moment, that’s pretty much every time I leave the house.

Compatible with most power banks with a USB-C connector, I can simply connect the power bank and enjoy the snuggly warmth as I move around.

The battery pack is not included, but it’s compatible with most power banks with a USB-C connector. My pocket-sized power bank costs less than 40p to charge, and the power lasts for a day or two without issue.

Soft, cosy and easy to use, the shawl is made from black fleece, with a simple one-push button operation (disguised as a real button, no less), so it’s really easy to use.

The Lakeland Battery Operated Heated Shawl is currently on offer, down from £49.99 to £29.99, but there’s a flag in the listing saying it’s going to be discontinued, so be quick if you want one.

How does it fit?

It’s long enough to keep the whole top half of my body warm, with a nice loose fit to avoid feeling restrictive.

And with buttons at the front, I can close it up to really wrap up warm and keep the cold at bay.

If I’m feeling particularly fancy, I can pretend I’m back in my graduation gown, minus the mortar board.

The universal, unisex design means my husband happily swiped it while we were staying at a slightly chilly holiday cottage and the best seat in the living room wasn’t near a plug socket (the rest of us gathered under heated throws, commandeering the available electrical outlets).

The name Staysnug Battery Operated Heated Shawl does not do this gem justice.

It turns out, 2026 has become the year of the heated shawl – the clever gadget that’s kept me warm through January – and while I’m at it I might even get myself a brooch.
