Liverpool have been handed updates on the futures of Lyon star Malick Fofana and Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi in the January transfer window
Liverpool are being linked with a host of potential new signings as the January transfer window continues to roll on. The Reds have until February 2 to complete their transfer business, after which point they would need to wait until the summer to strengthen their squad.
Arne Slot’s side are in fourth place in the Premier League table and are getting ready to face Burnley at Anfield in their top-flight fixture this weekend. A host of players have been linked with signing for Liverpool before the deadline, particularly in defence where the Reds have been handed several injury concerns this season.
Giovanni Leoni and Conor Bradley will spend the rest of the season on the sidelines recovering from knee injuries, while striker Alexander Isak is also recovering from a fractured fibula and ankle injury that he suffered in December. As a result, Liverpool are being linked with several potential signings to help bolster the Reds’ squad in the aftermath of the ongoing injury concerns.

Here, Mirror Football takes a look at some of the latest Liverpool transfer news and gossip that has emerged over the last 24 hours.
Marc Guehi stance
Liverpool are not expected to challenge Manchester City for the signing of Crystal Palace defender Marc Guehi. The Reds tried to sign Guehi in the summer for £35million, only for the move to fall through at the eleventh hour.
Now, Guehi is on the verge of completing a move to Manchester City, with a price tag in the region of just £20m. Our sister title The Liverpool ECHO have reported that the Reds are not expected to rival City for the signing of Guehi, due to the potential move not being a “market opportunity” for the reigning Premier League champions.
Malick Fofana boost
Liverpool will reportedly not face competition from Bayern Munich for the signing of Lyon star Malick Fofana. The Reds have been linked with a move for Fofana in the past, and now a fresh update has emerged about the Lyon forward.
BILD’s Bundesliga reporter Christian Falk has stated that Bayern are not in the running to sign Fofana, despite previously sending scouts to watch the 20-year-old in action.
As a result, Bayern are said to no longer be interested in signing Fofana, which will hand Liverpool a boost if they decide to bring the £43m-rated Belgium international to Anfield.
