West Brom 2-3 Middlesbrough: Ramsay condemned to 90th-minute defeat in first match in charge
Delano Burgzorg scored a 90th-minute winner for Middlesbrough as Eric Ramsay’s first game in charge of West Brom ended in a 3-2 defeat.
The Baggies looked like they were on their way to securing a stunning turnaround when Isaac Price and Jed Wallace helped them recover from a 2-0 deficit, but Burgzorg struck in the dying moments to move Boro within two points of Championship leaders Coventry City.
West Brom made a fast start at the Hawthorns, with Aune Heggebo squandering a golden chance in the third minute, failing to beat Sol Brynn from close range, before Price and Chris Mepham missed the target with their efforts in the opening 10 minutes.
Boro regained some control and took the lead before the break when Alex Gilbert’s attempt came off the post and was inadvertently deflected into his own net by Charlie Taylor, while Sam Silvera doubled their lead just before the hour mark with a clinical finish into the bottom-left corner.
The hosts then gained hope of a comeback when a well-worked free-kick on the edge of the box resulted in Price rifling past Brynn, and those hopes were further buoyed when Wallace levelled with 10 minutes to go with a first-time finish from close range.
However, Boro snatched three points in the final minute of normal time when Silvera played Burgzorg through on goal and the latter fired the ball across the goalkeeper and in.
Wow.

Data Debrief: Huge display from Morris
There was very little to separate the two sides on the scoreline, and it was the same story for much of the 90 minutes. West Brom produced 1.06 expected goals (xG) from 12 attempts to Middlesbrough’s 0.93 from nine shots.
Although Burgzorg will make the headlines, it was a stellar performance from Aidan Morris in the Boro midfield. He registered the most final third entries (19), most touches in the box (five), most touches (109), most passes (85), and won 100% of his duels (six).
And Boro have been deadly when taking the lead in Championship matches this season. They have won all 13 games this season after scoring the first goal in a match.
