Both Walker and Hojlund were subsequently shown yellow cards by referee Anthony Taylor.

The Danish forward shared an image of their face-off, accompanied by a pointed message: “Manchester is red. Violets are blue. What a brilliant performance. But the Oscar goes to…”

His post referenced Walker’s reaction during their earlier clash, where the City captain had fallen to the ground following their heated exchange.

Former Manchester United captain Roy Keane delivered a scathing assessment of Walker’s behaviour during the half-time analysis.

“You don’t mind a bit of this, this is going to happen in a game, a bit of angry bargy, of course,” Keane said.

The pundit was particularly critical of Walker’s reaction to the confrontation with Hojlund.

“He must be embarrassed. He must be embarrassed to go down like that,” Keane fumed.

He added: “An experienced player, this isn’t contact. Look at this! I don’t know the guy and I’m embarrassed for him.”

Keane acknowledged the initial foul but dismissed Walker’s subsequent theatrics as unacceptable.

The victory helped Manchester United avoid a significant milestone, preventing their first three consecutive league defeats since 2015.

Despite securing their sixth win of the season, United remain in 13th place in the Premier League table.
