BBC viewers have only just realised that a The Night Manager star has a very famous mum.

The second series of the hit BBC One thriller started earlier this month and is currently gripping fans. The first instalment, which aired in 2016, followed former British soldier Jonathan Pine (Tom Hiddleston), the night manager of a luxury hotel in Cairo.

Jonathan was recruited by Angela Burr (Olivia Colman), the manager of a Foreign Office task force investigating illegal arms sales. He was hired by Angela to infiltrate the inner circle of a secretive arms dealer without blowing his cover.

One character in the first series was young actor, Noah Jupe, who played Daniel ‘Danny’ Roper, the young son of Richard ‘Dickie’ Roper, played by Hugh Laurie.

Noah, 20, has returned to The Night Manager for series two, sharing screen time with the likes of actor Tom Hiddleston once again.

Viewers have been stunned to learn that Noah’s mum in real life is a famous actress herself and is a Coronation Street favourite.

Noah’s mum is actress Katy Cavanagh, 52, who portrayed Julie Carp in Coronation Street from 2008 to 2015 and made a return to the ITV soap last year for Eileen Grimshaw’s exit storyline, played by Sue Cleaver.

In a tear-jerking plot twist, Katy’s character Julie was written out and killed off after revealing her cancer diagnosis. Besides Coronation Street, Katy has also been recognised for her roles in The Cops, The Bill, Bob and Rose, and Murder on the Blackpool Express.

However, Katy isn’t the only one in her family with star power as she’s the proud mum of two Hollywood actor sons, Noah and his younger sibling Jacobi, 11. Katy and her producer husband Chris Jupe are parents to three children, including actor sons Noah and Jacobi.

Both Noah and Jacobi recently appeared in the film Hamnet, alongside Jessie Buckley, Paul Mescal and Joe Alwyn. Jacobi took on the role of Hamnet Shakespeare, son of William and Agnes and twin to Judith, while Noah played Hamlet.

Before Hamnet, Jacobi had roles in the 2023 Disney film Peter Pan and Wendy, playing Michael Darling, as well as TV shows Britannia, Tom Jones and Before.

Meanwhile, Noah boasts an impressive list of credits. He starred in the horror film A Quiet Place and its sequel A Quiet Place Part II alongside Emily Blunt, John Krasinski and Cillian Murphy, portraying Marcus Abbott, the on-screen son of Evelyn (Emily Blunt) and Lee (John Krasinski).

Other roles include playing Henry Fraser in The Undoing, alongside Nicole Kidman and Hugh Grant, as well as the film Suburbicon, starring Matt Damon and Julianne Moore.

Viewers were surprised to discover the family connection between Katy and her son Noah. In response to a Facebook post highlighting the relation, one fan reacted with: “Katy and her son Noah.”

Another user shared their surprise, writing: “I love Julie! And I didn’t know that was her son!”

Other followers echoed similar sentiments: “I can’t believe the son in the undoing is the real son of the woman that played Julie in Corrie.” Another gushed: “I thought I recognised him!”
