Saudi Arabia launches $1.41bn development push in Jazan
Saudi Arabia has launched a new wave of development projects in the Jazan region with a combined value exceeding SAR5.3 billion (US$1.41 billion), reinforcing the area’s role in the Kingdom’s regional growth plans under Vision 2030.
Announcing the inauguration and foundation-laying of the projects, Majed Al-Hogail, Minister of Municipalities and Housing, said the investment confirms Jazan’s steady progress along its development path. He said the projects are designed to create opportunities and deliver sustainable development, with people placed at the centre of planning and implementation.
Speaking at a press briefing in Jazan, Al-Hogail highlighted the support of the Governor of Jazan Region, Prince Mohammed bin Abdulaziz bin Mohammed bin Abdulaziz, and his continued oversight of development initiatives. He also pointed to the empowerment of Jazan Municipality to implement projects aimed directly at improving residents’ quality of life.
The minister described Jazan as one of Saudi Arabia’s promising pillars of growth, citing its geographic diversity and human capital. He said the region reflects how national development goals can be aligned with local strengths to shape a sustainable future.
According to Al-Hogail, Jazan has witnessed accelerated development in recent years due to sustained support from the Kingdom’s leadership, which has translated long-term plans into tangible projects. He said these efforts have improved living standards, enhanced public services and increased the region’s attractiveness for housing and investment since 2020.
Major investment fuels Jazan development
Beyond the newly announced SAR5.3 billion (US$1.41 billion) programme, Al-Hogail said the region has benefited from housing, municipal and infrastructure projects worth more than SAR17 billion (US$4.53 billion) in recent years. These investments have covered key sectors including housing developments, road networks, rainwater drainage systems and urban landscaping.
He added that these projects were designed to respond to the needs of local communities while supporting future growth and development. The focus, he said, has been on ensuring that infrastructure keeps pace with population growth and economic activity, while contributing to a higher quality of life.
Al-Hogail concluded by saying that Jazan is continuing to advance towards the objectives of Vision 2030, supported by its strategic location and strong local identity. He said the region’s people have been, and will remain, the core and purpose of development, reinforcing Jazan’s growing presence on the national development map.
The latest investment programme underscores Saudi Arabia’s broader push to promote balanced regional development and strengthen economic diversification across the Kingdom.
