Dog abandoned in Stanley reunites with council rescuers
Poppy the Poodle was discovered in Stanley on December 23, deliberately abandoned after her owner had moved house, neighbourhood wardens said.
The wardens were called following reports of what was initially believed to be a stray dog, but said it was clear from the moment they arrived that the pooch had ben left and was “terrified”.

Poppy was taken to the RSPCA to be cared for and has been staying at a rescue centre.
Her rescuers visited her in kennels last week where she greeted them with cuddles.

They said seeing her transformation was “truly amazing”, and trust she showed such a short time after being rescued really touched everyone involved.
