Memories of Sketty’s community, school days, buildings and people have been uncovered in a trip down memory lane through our photo archives. They capture moments in the Swansea community will offers a snapshot of life in the area years ago.

Let’s start here, with a precious photo taken back in 2004 of Barbara Wild with her daughters at their hair salon in Eversley Road. Never miss a Swansea story by signing up to our newsletter here.

And elsewhere on Eversley Road was Antonio Carra, behind the beloved bakery Kristy’s. Mr Carra would regularly create elaborate baked creations to help charity. Kristy’s closed in 2024 as he decided to retire.

Community has always been a big thing in Sketty. Here’s a very busy fitness class being led by Christine O’Rourke back in 2000.

Sketty School has always been a hive of activity, and 2002 was no different, when they had a visit from pop stars who gave special performances for the children and staff, including Emma Nelson.

Tymes 4 also once performed at the school. Here’s a picture of pupils posing for the camera with the band.
