Tammy Abraham

Aston Villa are in advanced talks with Tammy Abraham about bringing him back to the Premier League in January, GIVEMESPORT sources understand.

Unai Emery’s side have had a terrific season so far and currently sit seven points behind league leaders Arsenal following their 1-0 defeat to Everton on Sunday, but are short on options in their squad after they allowed Donyell Malen to depart for AS Roma permanently earlier this month.

Now Villa are pushing to replace the Netherlands international with a familiar face, and a deal is edging closer to being completed before the deadline on February 2nd.

Sources: Tammy Abraham Agrees Aston Villa Move

Abraham, who earns around £145,000-a-week, is currently on loan at Turkish giants Besiktas from Serie A side Roma, but they have an option to make the deal permanent.

Breaking that agreement with the Istanbul side was always the trickiest part of negotiations, but GIVEMESPORT understands that parties from all sides are working on finding a solution, and there is optimism that a deal can be completed. Roma are understood to be open to a sale for south of £15m, which appeals to Villa.

With Roma prepared to sanction his exit, sources also understand that Abraham has agreed to the move and is ready to return to England, and Villa Park, where he enjoyed a successful loan spell in the Championship in the 2018/19 season.

Aston Villa Need Watkins Competition

In recent seasons, one of the biggest talking points in the Villa squad has been their striker department, with Ollie Watkins a key member of their team but also needing competition to be at his best.

They thought they had found that in Jhon Duran but he then left, and now the same has happened with Malen. But in Abraham, the team would be bringing in a more experienced forward with experience of the league and club, who would be able to provide plenty of competition but would also surely know his place in the pecking order.

A deal to strengthen their attack is necessary this month, especially as the club continue to push to find a solution for the future of Harvey Elliott, and with Villa still firmly in the title race, it could be the difference between them closing the gap on Arsenal, or finding themselves back in a battle for the top four.
