Tyson Fury stands by X-rated Anthony Joshua comments ahead of seismic Oleksandr Usyk boxing showdown

Tyson Fury has insisted he stands by comments that Anthony Joshua cost him £150million when he lost to Daniel Dubois in September, as the Gypsy King prepares to face Oleksandr Usyk on Saturday.

Joshua was knocked out by Dubois during their showdown earlier in the year, with Fury among those in attendance.

Watching the action unfold from his VIP seat, the 36-year-old roared: “That’s just cost me 150 million, the silly c**t.”

For years, rumours have persisted that Fury and Joshua could fight. With both men entering the twilight years of their respective careers, however, the clock appears to be ticking.

But Fury stands by his comments and says he meant every word.

“Yeah, I meant that. Of course I did,” he said, per The Sun.

“We would have had a two-fight deal lined up for a s-tonne of money.

“Unfortunately, doors open, doors close. If you’ve been knocked out twice or whatever, four, five times, or six or seven? What does it matter? It’s still a big fight.”

When Fury faces Usyk, the Briton will have something to prove.

He suffered the first professional defeat of his career in May, having been wobbled in the ninth round of the showdown.

Some have questioned why Fury is still boxing. He has, after all, enjoyed a glittering career so far and there’s a risk that another defeat could tarnish his legacy.

He is quite honest about that subject, however, and insists he’s purely fighting for financial reasons.

“I’m only doing it for the money, obviously. More generational wealth,” he added.

“All prize fighters, if they tell the truth, do it for the money, don’t they? Who here is not doing it for the money?

“I don’t want to work for f*** all. I want as much as I can get.

“I want the easiest fights possible for the largest amounts of money possible. I wasn’t born in a Christmas cracker.”

He continued: “If he said to me, ‘right, you can fight AJ for 50 quid or you can fight Jon Jones in Antarctica for 1,050 quid’ — where am I going to go?

“I’m going to go for the money obviously because I’m a prize fighter.”

It will be intriguing to see how the fight plays out on Saturday.

Though Usyk is the favourite, Fury has shown he’s capable of bouncing back in the past – meaning it would be unwise to rule him out.

As for the Ukrainian, the 37-year-old has won all 22 of his bouts.
