Japan’s Long-Dated Bond Yields Hit Record Highs
Thirty-year yields jumped to 3.85%, the highest since Japan introduced 30-year debt in 1999, LSEG data showed.
Equivalent rates on 40-year debt surged to 4.198%, also a record.
Yields jumped by nearly 24 and 26 basis points, respectively, for the two bonds, among the biggest one-day surges on record. A basis point is one-hundredth of a percentage point.
Yields on 10-year bonds rose less dramatically.
