Marcus Rashford’s potential sale is viewed by Manchester United as part of a ‘cultural reboot deemed necessary to transform the club’ after the forward missed Sunday’s pulsating 2-1 win over Manchester City, according to reports.
The 27-year-old, along with Alejandro Garnacho, was left out of the squad entirely for the clash at the Etihad Stadium.
It looked as though City had done enough to win the game when they were 1-0 up with just minutes left on the clock.
Yet Bruno Fernandes levelled from the penalty spot before Amad Diallo struck at the death to secure all three points for the visitors.

Ruben Amorim, speaking before and after kick off, insisted Rashford and Garnacho had been dropped because he ‘looks at everything’.
But while Garnacho is expected to be offered a route back, the clock seems to be ticking down on Rashford’s time at Old Trafford.
The United star has struggled ever since penning a new deal back in the summer of 2023, having just scored 30 goals across all competitions for the first time.
And the Guardian say the Red Devils view a potential sale of the England international as ‘necessary’ for a ‘cultural reboot’.

United know standards have dropped drastically ever since Sir Alex Ferguson retired and strolled off into the sunset in 2013.
Amorim, and Sir Jim Ratcliffe, know everything about the fallen giants must improve if they’re to ever scale the heights of old.
In an ideal world, United would sell Rashford in January amid suggestions Barcelona and Paris Saint-Germain are interested in a deal.
It is, however, hard to see the player leaving in the New Year given his staggering £365,000-a-week salary.

Ratcliffe reportedly believes that a ‘decline in values’ at United has been allowed since Ferguson’s departure 11 years ago.
And he also feels that, with INEOS providing support, things can be better and brighter in the future.
Meanwhile, speaking on Sunday, Roy Keane was asked about Rashford and Amorim’s decision to leave the winger out of his squad for the win against City.
The Red Devils icon believes it is time for Rashford to seek a ‘new challenge’, having struggled for consistency in recent years.

“A move for Marcus [Rashford] would suit the player – a new challenge for him,” he said.
“He’s been there a long time. When you’re at a big club and your attitude is not right – and it hasn’t been great recently – sometimes it’s good to part ways.”
United are next in action against Tottenham on Thursday night.
They’ll be aiming to make the semi-finals of the Carabao Cup, having won the trophy under Erik ten Hag just under two years ago.
