Shoppers are rushing to Home Bargains after a discontinued Pepsi Max flavour was spotted back on shelves for just £1.99, nearly three decades after it was last available in 1994
Pepsi enthusiasts are running to their nearest Home Bargains after eagle-eyed shoppers noticed a new flavour on offer for just £1.99 per bottle. Pepsi and Pepsi Max are among the UK’s favourite fizzy drinks, vying for top spot with Coca-Cola and Diet Coke.
Originally created in 1893 in North Carolina, USA, Pepsi didn’t reach British shores until 1953, but it quickly established itself as a significant contender in the UK soft drink market. While the original Pepsi and Pepsi Max remain the most popular versions, the brand has also launched several limited edition flavours over the years.
From Strawberries N’ Cream to Raspberry and Gingerbread, Pepsi has kept its fans guessing about what unique flavour will be next. However, it seems a new type has appeared on store shelves nationwide, and fans are eager to give it a go.
An Instagram user named ‘NewFoodsSpotterUK’ posted a photo of the new Pepsi Max flavour available at Home Bargains. The price tag reveals that a large bottle of the new Tropical flavoured Pepsi Max is just £1.99.
“NEW PEPSI MAX TROPICAL NOW IN @homebargains,” they captioned the post, which shows a row of the drink bottles displayed on the shop shelves.
Some fans may recall the Pepsi Max Tropical flavour, as it has previously been available in the UK, first hitting the shelves in late 1994, alongside Pepsi Strawberry.
The tropical variant is said to have the classic Pepsi taste that fans love, but with an added tropical twist of pineapple and sweet orange flavours. However, both these drinks were eventually discontinued.
The Instagram post quickly garnered attention from the user’s 146,000 followers, with many expressing their eagerness to sample the new beverage.
“I need to try!!!” one follower commented, while another remarked: “ohhh interesting.”
After posting the same photo on their Facebook page, another user suggested: “I think a trip to Home Bargains is needed soon.
“Give this a go, mango was nice but this is definitely superior! It’s very nice!” another person recommended, while a third person wrote: “This is unreal.”
Another shared: “Its also in Sainsbury’s two for £3.50, it’s actually quite nice!”
However, despite the buzz surrounding the new drink, some people weren’t as thrilled. While one user expressed a preference for their Pepsi Max ‘to taste like Pepsi Max’, others pleaded for the return of other limited edition flavours.
“Just bring back raspberry,” one user implored, while another concurred, stating: “I want raspberry back.”
