With just days to go until the biggest fight of his career, an image of the current physique of Liverpudlian UFC star Paddy Pimblett has emerged.

Since making his debut in September 2021, Pimblett has become one of the UFC’s most popular stars. Remarkably, though, he has never headlined a fight card for the promotion. That all changes on Saturday night when he faces Octagon veteran Justin Gaethje for the interim UFC Lightweight Championship at T-Mobile Arena in Las Vegas.

The Brit had previously had his sights set on challenging full 155-pound champion, Ilia Topuria. However, when the adopted Spaniard announced that he would be taking some time away from fighting in order to focus on his personal life, the UFC opted to have Gaethje and Pimblett battle for the interim crown.

Paddy’s most recent outing saw him stop the highly-respected Michael Chamdler in the co-main event of UFC 314 last April, but Saturday’s five-round clash is on another level in terms of prestige.

One of the main reasons that Pimblett has connected so well with the UFC audience is his down-to-earth personality. The 30-year-old is famous for his love of food, often blowing up considerably in weight in between his fights.

Despite fighting at 155lbs, Paddy frequently gets up to in excess of 200lbs after he competes due to combination of his body “holding on to everything” after tough weight cuts, as well as a spot of overindulgence.

Paddy Pimblett Calls Cutting Weight ‘Hardest Part’ of Competing in the UFC

In a recent interview with Men’s Health, Pimblett admitted that cutting down to lightweight was “the hardest part” of being a UFC fighter:

“Counting calories every day and making sure you’re not eating all of your amounts of calories. ‘That’s the strict parameters that you have to live by as you build up to a fight. That’s the bit that governs your life. That’s the hardest part, by far – the discipline of that.”

Ahead of the biggest fight of his career, though, Pimblett looks to have shunned his usual junk food as he arrived in Sin City.

Sporting a ripped physique, together with chiselled abs, Paddy is in the best shape of his UFC career as he seeks to become just the fourth British fighter in history to hold UFC gold.

Gaethje and Paddy Pimblett Face Off

Speaking to the press at Wednesday’s media day, Pimblett described just how tough in had been to miss out on both Christmas and his birthday celebrations in order to make it to Las Vegas in such impressive shape.

“It was rough. Never fighting in January ever again. Ever again,” he declared.

“It absolutely ruined my Christmas, and my birthday, because my birthday’s January 3rd. It ruined it in a big way but [you’ve] got to get on with it. “It’s a world title fight; I’ve been training for 16 years now for this to happen and it’s finally here.”
