Sources have today described similarities between Nicola Peltz’s relationship with Brooklyn Beckham to that with her ex Anwar Hadid, amid the Beckham family fallout
Friends of the Beckhams have pointed out stark similarities between Nicola Peltz’s relationship with Brooklyn to that with ex Anwar Hadid.
Anwar’s sister, Alana, waded into the Beckham family row yesterday, branding Nicola “a fame hungry liar”, following Brooklyn’s plea for privacy following the public fallout. Anwar, a model, had dated Nicola between 2016 and 2018 — but it appears his older sister is no fan of the 31-year-old actress.
Sources close to the two families offered insights on this today, with one insider describing Nicola’s difficult relationship with Anwar’s mother Yolanda. It is thought Yolanda, 62, was “so relieved” when Anwar, her only son, parted ways with Nicola.
A source close to the Hadid family said: “They (Anwar’s family) feared he was struggling, going out with a woman who was older than him at such a formative time in his life. Strong words were had; Yolanda was so relieved when it all finished. Poor Anwar was somewhat discombobulated by the whole relationship.”

Tensions have seemingly grown between Nicola and her current mother-in-law Lady Victoria Beckham amid the public fallout. However, Brooklyn, aged 26, has accused his family of trying to “ruin” his relationship with the socialite, whom he married in 2022.
Things, though, had appeared rosy in the dynamic, just as was the case when Nicola dated Anwar, again five years her junior. In one interview, Nicola said of Anwar: “Honestly, he is an angel. He’s such an amazing person. He comes from such an amazing family. Gigi and Bella (Anwar’s sisters) are so, so sweet. I just love his family so much. They’re feminine, strong girls. To have that around is amazing.”
But the three Hadid women reportedly grew to “dislike” Nicola, and Yolanda reportedly tried to stage an “intervention” to make him “see sense”. Speaking to the Daily Mail, the source continued: “Anwar’s mother and sisters were worried he was becoming increasingly unhappy in his relationship and they were keen for him to get out of it quickly,’ says a source close to the Hadids. The age difference bothered them, and so did Nicola’s strong personality. It had started so well but they later began to no longer think the relationship was the best idea for Anwar.”
It has been reported that the Beckhams have similarly described Nicola, born in New York, as “controlling”. However, it is understood Lady Victoria, 51, has found hope in the wake of her estrangement from her oldest son through the knowledge Yolanda suffered a similarly painful experience.
But defiant Brooklyn earlier this week stressed he “does not want to reconcile with [his] family”. Instead, the aspiring chef showed his loyalty and love for Nicola as the pair were snapped hand in hand on a romantic stroll near Malibu, California.
