Nadiya, who joined the Strictly professional troupe almost a decade ago, had partnerships with celebrities including broadcaster Dan Walker and singer Lee Ryan but never made it to the final.
According to insiders, she learned of the decision during a meeting with bosses on Friday and has been left devastated by the news.
A source told The Sun: “Nadiya is distraught. The news came as such a huge shock as Nadiya’s life was Strictly and to find out she’s not been invited back as full time pro has really broken her heart. No one was expecting producers to chop so many professionals.”
They added, “Especially someone like Nadiya, who’s shown so much dedication to the show over the years. There’s a super weird feeling among the rest of the pros now, they’re all wondering if they’re safe and everyone’s nervous.”
Responding to the latest reports about the show’s future, the BBC said: “Plans for Strictly Come Dancing 2026 will be confirmed in due course.”
Beeb bosses are reportedly determined to give the long-running BBC1 series a fresh lick of paint with new presenters, after hosts Tess Daly and Claudia Winkleman departure in December, and more new faces.
Spanish dancer Gorka had been part of the Strictly line-up for a decade and reached the final three times during his run on the show. The 35-year-old also met his partner, actress Gemma Atkinson, after appearing on the programme in 2017, with the pair later welcoming two children together.
Meanwhile Russian dancer Luba joined the show eight years ago but had not been partnered with a celebrity contestant in recent seasons.
Cypriot Michelle, who joined the professional troupe more recently, was paired with Jamie Borthwick during the 2024 series. Her celebrity partner sparked controversy after reportedly using an ableist slur backstage while filming in Blackpool.
The overhaul comes after a difficult period for Strictly, which has been rocked by a string of controversies involving both professionals and celebrity contestants.
Professional dancer Giovanni Pernice left the show following complaints from his celebrity partner Amanda Abbington, who accused him of “bullying” and “aggressive behaviour”. Pernice denied abusive or threatening conduct, and while some complaints were upheld following a lengthy investigation, he was cleared of the most serious allegations.
In the same series, dancer Graziano Di Prima was also removed from the show after allegations of misconduct involving his celebrity partner Zara McDermott during training sessions. Earlier this year it also emerged that a male Strictly star had been interviewed by police on suspicion of rape and alleged non-consensual intimate image abuse.
