Cops release CCTV after woman ‘sexually assaulted’ while sleeping on train in city centre on Christmas Eve

AN INVESTIGATION has been launched after a woman was allegedly sexually assaulted while sleeping on a train on Christmas Eve.
Cops have released an image of a man they wish to speak to after the victim was reportedly targeted during a journey to St Helens, Merseyside.
The woman was allegedly assaulted at around 4.15pm after the train had left Liverpool Lime Street.
British Transport Police said the man was sitting opposite the victim when is said to have attacked her.
He continued to assault the woman after she woke up and asked her “inappropriate questions”, the force added.
The man then left the train at St Helens station.
Issuing an appeal, BTP said: “At around 4.15pm on December 24, 2025, a man sexually assaulted a sleeping woman sitting opposite him.
“When she woke, he continued to sexually assault her and asked her inappropriate questions before leaving the service at St Helens station.
“Officers believe the man in the images may have information which could help their investigation.
“Anyone who recognises him is asked to contact BTP by texting 61016 or by calling 0800 40 50 40, quoting reference 368 of 24 December.
“You can also contact Crimestoppers anonymously on 0800 555 111.”
