One park in Cambridge that has been named as one of the best in the UK, and also a good place to walk through, is Christ’s Piece. It is a Victorian park in the centre of the city.

The park has previously been recognised with the Green Flag award, giving the park a status as one of the best-maintained parks in the UK. There are many reasons the park retains this status, such as its picturesque views and clean green areas.

It is made up of around 3.2 hectares of grassy areas, with paths that go across it. For Royal family admirers, there is a memorial garden dedicated to Diana, Princess of Wales.

It is a memorial garden stone that commemorates Diana’s life, and is in a quiet corner where people can sit and reflect. Although there are other, better-known parks in Cambridge where events take place, Christ’s Piece remains a park full of charm and tranquillity.

As well as the Diana memorial, the park features pretty flower beds and ornamental trees. As well as its natural beauty, the park is used for local sports events.

Within the park grounds, there are outdoor tennis tables, four tennis courts, a bowling green and a play park. If people want to play a friendly game of tennis, they can book out the tennis courts.

The varied sporting activities on offer appeal to all ages, with the park appealing to younger families, and the tennis courts and bowling green appealing to an older crowd. After enjoying a walk through the park or a game of tennis, people can also stop at the park’s refreshment kiosk.

It offers coffee and snacks, and for the summertime, ice creams will be on offer. Another great thing about Christ’s Piece is its close proximity to the city centre. It is close to the bus station, as well as the Grafton Centre and surrounding streets for nearby shopping.
