Abu Dhabi Police signs MoU for AI-powered autonomous vehicles
Abu Dhabi Police has signed a memorandum of understanding with Space42 to develop smart security systems and autonomous vehicle solutions in the emirate, marking a step forward in Abu Dhabi’s push towards AI-enabled mobility.
The agreement supports the Government of Abu Dhabi’s goal of advancing smart mobility and building a safe, sustainable transport ecosystem powered by advanced technologies. It also establishes a framework for long-term collaboration between the two entities across research, development and innovation in autonomous and intelligent transport systems.
Abu Dhabi advances smart transport
The MoU was signed by Brigadier Mohammed Dhahi Al Hamiri, Director of the Central Operations Sector at Abu Dhabi Police, and Hasan Al Hosani, Chief Executive Officer of Smart Solutions at Space42.
Al Hamiri said the partnership will help enhance road safety and reduce traffic incidents through the deployment of AI-driven and autonomous mobility technologies in police vehicles. He added that Abu Dhabi Police will support the application of these solutions to improve operational efficiency while keeping public safety at the forefront.
The collaboration will also focus on developing national capabilities, with joint training and field programmes aimed at upskilling Emirati talent in emerging mobility and AI technologies. Al Hamiri noted that the agreement lays the foundation for expanding autonomous and smart systems across a wider range of use cases within Abu Dhabi’s transport ecosystem, in line with the leadership’s vision of smarter and safer cities.
Al Hosani said the partnership reflects the growing role of AI in addressing real-world challenges. “Our collaboration with Abu Dhabi Police marks an important step in applying AI and advanced technologies to address real-world security and mobility needs,” he said. “Together, we are developing intelligent solutions that strengthen the security framework for autonomous vehicles and advance safety standards across smart mobility systems.”
The agreement underscores Abu Dhabi’s ambition to position itself at the forefront of autonomous transport, AI innovation and smart city development.
