Bombardier marks entry into service of the world’s fastest business jet Global 8000

Bombardier has marked the entry into service of its Global 8000 aircraft, positioning it as the fastest business jet in operation and the fastest civil aircraft since Concorde.

The ultra-long range jet has a top speed of Mach 0.95, a range of 8,000 nautical miles and the lowest cabin altitude in its class at 2,691 feet.

The first Global 8000 was delivered at Bombardier’s Aircraft Assembly Centre in Mississauga, Ontario, in the presence of employees, government officials, suppliers, media and invited guests.

The aircraft was handed over to Patrick Dovigi, the launch customer for the Global 8000 and a Bombardier client for more than 15 years. Dovigi’s new aircraft will replace his existing Global 7500.

Global 8000 sets new aviation benchmark

Stephen McCullough, senior vice president of engineering and product development at Bombardier, said: “With its enhanced speed capability, the Global 8000 pushes the boundaries of what is possible in business aviation and underscores the depth of innovation across our design, flight test and production teams.”

The Global 8000 offers leading runway performance comparable to light jets, allowing access to a wider range of airports. Its wing design with leading-edge slats enables operations at up to 30 per cent more airports than competing aircraft.

The cabin is configured with four distinct living spaces and a separate crew rest area.

The aircraft also offers the longest seated length in its category and an ultra-low cabin altitude designed to improve passenger comfort and reduce fatigue on long-haul flights.
