Dollar Falls as Japanese Yen Rises on Intervention Hopes
The dollar was trading near an 11-week low against a basket of currencies as the Japanese yen continued to recover on the prospect of interventions to shore up the currency.
Japanese Finance Minister Satsuki Katayama said the government stands ready to take action against excessive currency moves.
Meanwhile, data Tuesday showed the U.S. economy grew more than expected in the third quarter, providing some initial but short-lived support to the dollar.
