Dow Closes at Record After Wall Street Turns to Energy, Financials
The Dow Jones Industrial Average marked its highest close on record after Wall Street shrugged off the U.S.’ capture of Venezuelan President Nicolás Maduro.
The Dow rose nearly 600 points, or 1.2%. The S&P 500 was up 0.6%. The Nasdaq Composite was up 0.7%. The Dow traded as high as 49,209.95 before paring gains.
Precious metals, as well as U.S. assets such as Treasury bonds rallied. The iShares 20+ Year Treasury Bond ETF rose 0.4%.
