The boss of upmarket cinema firm Everyman Media Group has stepped down after nearly five years at the helm.
Everyman said Alex Scrimgeour has been replaced on an interim basis by non-executive director Farah Golant, who will lead the company “with the support of the broader management team and board” until a permanent chief executive is appointed.
London-headquartered Everyman, which claims to be “redefining cinema”, concentrates on premium venues and hospitality services. It has sites across the UK including in Bristol, Plymouth, Liverpool, Cardiff, Newcastle and York.
Philip Jacobson, non-executive chairman, said: “We would like to thank Alex for his commitment to Everyman throughout his tenure.
“He has played a pivotal role in the team that successfully led the business through its recovery from COVID, more than doubling revenue and delivering significant EBITDA growth. He has also built a strong and capable operational team.
“Farah has extensive experience across the global creative, entertainment, and media industries, and a track record of accelerating growth and cultivating high performance, results-oriented organisations.
“Working alongside our leadership group, she will continue to deliver exceptional customer experiences, focus on driving sustainable growth, and create long-term value for shareholders.”
In July, Everyman announced that first-half 2025 revenue had climbed 21 per cent to £56.5m.
Earnings before interest, tax, depreciation and amortisation (EBITDA) jumped 33 per cent to £8.2m, driven by a 15 per cent increase in admissions to 2.2m.
At the time, Mr Scrimgeour attributed Everyman’s performance to its “unique brand of high-quality, experience-led cinema”.
