Around 50 jobs are set to be created in the new year as part of a multimillion-pound investment programme by Durham wellness brand Glow.

The company was formed in 2024 by Steven Curran, Terry Haley and Mitchell Anderson and currently operates two tanning studios, in Durham and Spennymoor. At the moment the business employs 20 people around the region. That figure is set to more than treble in 2026 on the back of at least five new openings. Glow is launching its third site in Plummer Street, close to Newcastle city centre, in January, while a fourth is set to open at Thinford Park, Durham, next summer.

Meanwhile, three additional wellness stores are planned for 2026, at locations yet to be announced. Glow, which first opened in Framwellgate, Durham, provides sunbeds, beauty rooms and wellness services, saying it focuses on cleanliness, comfort and consistency. Mitchell Anderson, co-founder, said the business has built a loyal customer base by prioritising disciplined operating standards and well-trained local teams.

It has also attracted a growing public profile, with Charlotte Crosby among those who have been seen using the brand’s stores.

Mr Anderson said the Newcastle opening in early 2026 will mark a significant milestone for the business, with the confirmed Thinford site and further planned openings reinforcing its long-term commitment to the North East as an employer and investor.

He said: “This next phase is about building something long term and high quality. The investment we are making in 2026 is focused on the right locations, the right people and maintaining standards as we grow.

“We opened our first stores, listened carefully to customers and refined how we operate before committing to further expansion. That discipline gives us confidence, and we are now actively seeking additional locations across the region.”

The planned expansion to create a further 50 roles will include recruitment into customer-facing positions, management roles and operational support functions.

Further announcements on locations and recruitment are expected in the coming months.
