Japanese Bond Yields Hit Fresh Multiyear High

Bank of Japan Gov. Kazuo Ueda said policymakers will "consider the pros and cons" of a rate hike at its Dec. 18-19 meeting.

Yields on 10-year government bonds settled at 1.879%—the highest since June 2008, according to Dow Jones Market Data.

Yields had jumped 0.072 percentage point, the biggest increase since late July. Bond yields rise as prices fall.

The Nikkei 225 index shed 1.9%.
