Kroger’s CEO Wants to Cut Prices By Cutting Costs
Kroger is cutting costs across its operations to help lower prices for cash-strapped shoppers, its chief executive said.
The biggest U.S. supermarket operator has cut nearly 1,000 corporate jobs, while consolidating regional divisions and closing underperforming stores and e-commerce fulfillment facilities. The company aims to redirect the savings toward lowering prices on shelves and keeping bakeries, delis and other store services open longer.
