UAE Launches First Digital Trademark Platform

The Ministry of Economy and Tourism has launched TM Market Place, the UAE’s first digital platform for buying and trading trademarks.

Developed under the UAE Government Leaders Programme, the initiative marks a regional first and is designed to strengthen the country’s intellectual property (IP) ecosystem while promoting innovation and competitiveness in the business environment.

The new platform provides trademark owners with a secure and transparent space to list and trade their registered marks, connecting them with investors and entrepreneurs both locally and internationally. It aims to support the UAE’s vision for a knowledge-based economy and to enhance the market value of intangible business assets.

His Excellency Abdulla bin Touq Al Marri, Minister of Economy and Tourism, said: “TM Market Place is the result of a collaboration between the Ministry of Economy and Tourism and the UAE Government Leaders Programme. It is a unique initiative for the UAE and the region, enabling owners of trademarks registered in the UAE to list and trade their trademarks within a secure and transparent environment and connecting them with investors and entrepreneurs.”

H.E. Bin Touq added that the platform represents a milestone in enabling intangible assets to achieve fair financial valuation and generate economic returns. By showcasing trademarks to a wide base of potential buyers, it transforms underutilised intellectual property into active economic assets and supports the growth of companies, particularly small and medium-sized enterprises (SMEs) and family businesses.

Through TM Market Place, trademark owners can list or sell their marks digitally while maintaining full rights protection. Investors and entrepreneurs gain access to verified and ready-to-use trademarks, reducing entry barriers to the UAE market and accelerating time to market.

The Ministry will oversee the platform’s operations to ensure compliance with national and international IP laws, including Federal Decree-Law No. 36 of 2021 on Trademarks. Transactions will be limited to trademarks registered in the UAE and conducted through verified user logins and secure digital payments.

The platform is operational from launch and targets a 20 per cent increase in the number of trademarks registered within its first year.

According to the Ministry, trademark registrations in the UAE continue to show strong growth. From January to early November 2025, 34,234 national and international trademarks were registered.

In the first half of the year alone, registrations rose by 129 per cent compared to the same period in 2024.
