Neal begins as Deterra interim boss

Jason Neal has begun his tenure as interim managing director and chief executive officer at Deterra Royalties, following the departure of Julian Andrews.

In a statement to the ASX on October 23, Deterra announced that Mr Andrews would step down by the end of the year due to personal reasons, with Mr Neal to begin his interim-based role a day following his departure.

Within the announcement, Mr Andrews did not greatly elaborate on why he elected to depart, however during his managing director’s address at the company’s recent AGM, said it was a ‘difficult decision’.

“It has been a privilege to lead the team in this period (Deterra listed on the ASX, October 23 2020), and although it was a difficult decision to make, I am pleased to be leaving the company in good shape and good hands.”

Mr Neal has been on Deterra’s board since 2022 and remains as lead independent director of Louis Gignac Sr-founded G Mining Ventures.

Prior to joining the board, he was also executive vice president of Kirkland Lake Gold, which merged with Agnico Eagle in 2022.

Deterra closed trade on Monday at $4.04, with its shares relatively flat.
