Newcastle law firm Sintons celebrates record revenues and job creation

Newcastle law firm Sintons LLP is toasting record revenues and expansion of its team as its turnover tops £19m.

The company, based at The Cube on Barrack Road, has published accounts covering the year ended March 2025 in which revenues rose 6.5% from £18.1m to £19.3m, while operating profit was flat at £6.6m. Employee numbers during the year rose from an average of 163 to 180, while the year also saw the firm complete a full refurbishment of its flagship offices at a total cost exceeding £2m.

Sharing in the firm’s continued success, all colleagues benefited from a turnover-based bonus for the fourth consecutive year under Sinton’s bonus scheme. Total headcount now stands at 216, with further recruitment taking place since the year end.

The firm said the increase in turnover was strong across all areas of the firm’s business with particular growth in the commercial areas, including its corporate team (42%), dispute resolution team (16%) and commercial real estate team (9%).

A report within the accounts by managing partner Chris Welch and real estate partner Mark Dobbin said: “In another successful financial year, we welcomed 25 new colleagues to the firm. Our colleagues remain our greatest asset, and we thank them for their continued commitment and dedication to the firm.

“The firm continues its initiatives to ensure that our colleagues are fully equipped to provide the best possible service to our clients. Our continued commitment to Investors in People provides us with objective and external scrutiny whilst internally, we continue to support health and well-being through our membership and participation initiatives such as the Better Health at Work Award and the Disability Confident employer scheme.”

The accounts highlight how giving back to the community “is a fundamental part of who we are as a firm”, resulting in colleagues raising more than £23,000 for chosen charity The Percy Hedley Foundation since 2024. It also said it has made significant progress on its commitment to become net zero basis by 2040, through a carbon reduction plan focusing on key areas including buildings, paper, travel, waste, and awareness and education.

It achievement Planet Mark certification for the fourth consecutive year after reducing its overall carbon footprint by 34.1% and carbon footprint per employee by 41.51% compared to the previous year.

Following publication of the accounts, Mr Welch said: “We are delighted to have recorded another successful financial year, with a further year of record-breaking turnover, driven by our outstanding people and the unwavering support of our clients, both existing and new. All areas of the business have performed exceptionally well, from our business-focused teams supporting companies and businesses of all sizes with their legal needs to our personal and family experts and our colleagues assisting those who have suffered life changing injuries.”
