Qatar suspends maritime navigation in Doha waters for National Day
The Ministry of Transport has announced a temporary suspension of maritime navigation and vessel leasing in parts of Doha as part of national safety measures linked to Qatar National Day celebrations.
In a statement issued on Monday, the ministry called on all maritime vessel owners, whether individuals or companies, to halt navigation and leasing activities for pleasure crafts, tourism boats, fishing vessels, jet skis and similar watercraft in the Doha area.
The suspension applies specifically to the coastal stretch between Hamad International Airport and the Sheraton Doha Hotel, a central area expected to host National Day activities.

According to the Ministry of Transport, the directive will come into force at 6:00 am on Tuesday, December 16 and remain in effect until 8:00 am on Friday, December 19, 2025.
The move is intended to support public safety and security during the celebrations, which mark Qatar National Day and typically include large public gatherings, official events and festivities along Doha’s waterfront.
The ministry urged all concerned parties to comply fully with the circular and cooperate with authorities to ensure the smooth and safe conduct of National Day events.
In its statement, the ministry said the suspension forms part of broader national measures designed to protect participants and visitors while maintaining order during the celebrations.
Qatar National Day is observed annually on December 18 and commemorates the country’s unification and founding. The period is marked by parades, cultural performances and public celebrations across the capital and other parts of the country.
The Ministry of Transport did not specify any exemptions to the suspension and advised all vessel owners and operators to adhere strictly to the announced timeframe and geographic limits.
