Rieder’s Star Is Rising as Possible Fed Pick: Bloomberg
The candidacy of senior BlackRock executive Rick Rieder to be President Trump’s pick as next Federal Reserve chair is gaining traction, according to Bloomberg.
Rieder had an interview with Trump on Thursday and it went well, the report said, citing people familiar with the matter. Rieder is one of four candidates Trump is weighing for the job, which is currently held by Jerome Powell. His term as chair ends in May.
Prediction markets are seeing an uptick in Rieder’s chances of being selected. Bets on him as the nominee have spiked at both Kalshi and Polymarket, putting him second behind fellow candidate Kevin Warsh. Polymarket has a data partnership with Dow Jones, the publisher of Barron’s.
