Saudi Arabia lifts life expectancy to 79.7 years as Vision 2030 drives healthcare reform

Saudi Arabia has lifted life expectancy to 79.7 years as it accelerates efforts to build a modern healthcare model under Saudi Vision 2030, with reforms focused on improving quality of life across the Kingdom.

Led by the Health Sector Transformation Program, the approach adopts a one-government model that integrates policies across sectors to strengthen prevention, expand comprehensive healthcare coverage and embed health considerations into wider quality-of-life initiatives.

Integration among relevant entities has also delivered significant safety improvements, including a 60 per cent reduction in deaths resulting from road accidents and a 30 per cent decline in deaths from unintentional injuries.

These gains have been driven by unified regulatory and operational roles and by reinforcing the concept of health in all policies to enhance community safety and sustain long-term progress.

The Kingdom’s progress highlights that improving health indicators and raising life expectancy is not the result of a single sector, but the outcome of an integrated pathway guided by Vision 2030.

This pathway is anchored in enhancing the quality and efficiency of healthcare services, improving access to care and prioritising prevention before treatment.
