The General Authority for the Care of the Affairs of the Grand Mosque and the Prophet’s Mosque has allocated dedicated routes inside the Grand Mosque for older people and persons with disabilities, aiming to ease movement and improve access while performing acts of worship.

According to the authority, the new routes have been carefully positioned in strategic locations to reduce congestion and minimise the challenges faced when entering, exiting, or moving between different levels of the mosque. The initiative is designed to provide a safer, more comfortable environment that enhances reassurance and tranquillity for worshippers.

The authority said the measure forms part of an integrated services system tailored to the needs of elderly worshippers and people with disabilities, ensuring smoother access to facilities and reflecting the leadership’s commitment to delivering services in line with the highest humanitarian and care standards.

Worshippers and Umrah performers have also been encouraged to use the Grand Mosque’s spatial guidance guide, which highlights the locations of dedicated routes, elevators and supporting services to help visitors navigate the site more easily, particularly during peak times.
