Sharjah consolidates nature reserves under new Emiri decrees
Sharjah has moved to streamline its network of protected areas after Sheikh Dr Sultan bin Mohammed Al Qasimi, Supreme Council Member and Ruler of Sharjah, issued a series of Emiri decrees restructuring the emirate’s nature reserves.
Under the decree, the Al Muntather and Mahafiz nature reserves will be merged into a single protected area under the name Al Muntather Nature Reserve, with its geographical boundaries defined in official maps attached to the decision.
In a separate decree, the Ruler of Sharjah also approved an official name update for Al Mutasannad Nature Reserve, replacing the former designation of Musannad Nature Reserve wherever it appears across legislation, administrative records and legal documentation in the emirate.
The measures form part of Sharjah’s broader efforts to organise and manage its environmental assets more effectively, ensuring clarity in governance while reinforcing the protection of natural habitats across the emirate.
