Sharjah launches second sustainable city as green living demand grows
Sharjah Investment and Development Authority (Shurooq), in partnership with SEE Holding, has announced the launch of Sharjah Sustainable City II, expanding the emirate’s push towards environmentally responsible urban living. The new development builds on the strong uptake and performance of Sharjah Sustainable City, the first sustainable residential community in the emirate.
Designed as an integrated, people-focused neighbourhood, Sharjah Sustainable City II reflects Shurooq’s long-term vision to develop smart, balanced cities that prioritise quality of life while meeting future sustainability goals. The project also draws on SEE Holding’s experience in delivering large-scale sustainable communities across the region.
Spanning 7.8 million square feet in the Al Rahmaniya area, the development will comprise 1,032 homes, including 944 three- and four-bedroom townhouses and 88 five-bedroom villas. All homes will be smart-enabled and equipped with solar panels and energy-efficient appliances to help reduce utility costs and environmental impact.
A central feature of the master plan is a 2-kilometre green spine designed to encourage walking, cycling and low-impact mobility. The community also incorporates local food production through farmlands and biodomes, alongside integrated waste management systems, green transport solutions and biodiverse landscaping.
New phase of sustainable living
Sharjah Sustainable City II will be showcased for the first time at the Sharjah Real Estate Exhibition ACRES, taking place from 21 to 24 January 2026. During the exhibition, buyers will be offered a 50 per cent discount on registration fees, along with zero service charges for the first three years after handover. The development is available on a freehold basis to all nationalities, supported by flexible payment plans.
Ahmed Obaid Al Qaseer, Chief Executive Officer of Shurooq, said: “Building on the outstanding success of Sharjah Sustainable City, we are proud to launch Sharjah Sustainable City II – an ambitious step toward the future of urban living.
“This new phase embodies our vision for next-generation sustainability, where advanced technologies, intelligent infrastructure, and regenerative design converge to create a community that is not only environmentally responsible but truly future-proof.”
Faris Saeed, Founder and Chairman of SEE Holding, said the project reflects a broader shift in how residents value their living environments, placing greater emphasis on sustainability, wellbeing and long-term resilience. He added that the community’s design promotes stronger connections between people and nature through green spaces, walkable layouts and shared social areas.
With demand for sustainable housing continuing to rise, Sharjah Sustainable City II positions the emirate as a growing hub for future-ready, environmentally conscious urban development.
