Sports Boulevard opens new outdoor lifestyle hub The Grove in Riyadh
Stretching 1.2 kilometres along Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Road, between the Arts Tower and Suwaid bin Haritha Street, The Grove covers more than 23,000 square metres and features landscaped green areas, water elements and dedicated zones for events and sports activities.
The destination includes cafés, retail outlets, children’s play areas, parking facilities, and pedestrian and cycling paths designed for both professional and recreational users. Sports Boulevard said the mix is intended to create an inclusive environment that encourages healthy lifestyles and community engagement.
New urban hub opens in Riyadh
The opening comes less than a year after the launch of the first phase of the Sports Boulevard project in February, which introduced several key destinations including Wadi Hanifah, the Promenade, Sands Sports Park, the Arts Tower area and the internal cycling loop at Princess Nourah bint Abdulrahman University.
Launched in 2019 by the Custodian of the Two Holy Mosques King Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud and chaired by HRH Prince Mohammed bin Salman bin Abdulaziz Al Saud, Crown Prince and Prime Minister, the Sports Boulevard project is one of Riyadh’s major development initiatives under Saudi Vision 2030.
Designed in line with Salmani Architecture principles, the project aims to enhance Riyadh’s liveability by promoting physical, mental and social wellbeing. Once complete, Sports Boulevard will span more than 135 kilometres, making it the world’s longest linear park, with over 50 sports venues and more than three million square metres of investment opportunities.
Construction continues on remaining destinations, including the Valley, King Abdulaziz Road Tunnel and Abu Bakr Al-Siddiq Road Tunnel, in line with the approved implementation plan.
Sports Boulevard said The Grove will host year-round recreational and sporting events, cultural workshops and fitness programmes, positioning it as a family-friendly destination in the heart of the capital.
