TikTok has launched a new Time and Well-being space, designed to help users unwind, reset, and develop more mindful digital habits. The expanded hub builds on the platform’s ongoing efforts to promote positive online experiences and support the mental well-being of its global community, especially teenagers.

Teen accounts on TikTok have more than 50 preset safety, privacy, and security settings automatically enabled to ensure a safer environment for creative expression, connection, and learning. Earlier this year, the platform introduced a meditation feature for teens, turned on by default at night, to encourage healthier evening routines.

TikTok expands digital well-being tools

The new Time and Well-being space offers a range of interactive tools, including mindful breathing exercises, daily intention prompts, and calming sound sessions. Among the key features is the Affirmational Journal, where users can set daily intentions and choose from over 120 customisable affirmation cards to download or share.

Another addition, the Soothing Sound Generator, offers a library of relaxing sounds such as rain, ocean waves, and white noise to help users relax and refocus.

To support mindfulness practices, TikTok has also introduced Breathing Exercises aimed at promoting calm and improving both mental and physical well-being.

The company has collaborated with popular creators to demonstrate how users can make the most of TikTok’s existing digital well-being tools, such as screen time limits, personalised content settings, and the Family Pairing feature.

A new initiative called Well-being Missions encourages users to build healthy digital habits through small, consistent actions. Missions include the Sleep Hours Mission, which rewards users for staying off TikTok at night or meditating during rest hours, and the Screen Time Mission, which challenges users to set and maintain screen time limits. Participants can earn badges and grow a virtual “Well-being tree” as they complete their goals.

TikTok said the design of the new space was informed by academic research showing that restrictive digital habits can be counterproductive. The platform also consulted its Youth Council, whose feedback helped shape features that are more engaging and empowering.

Early testing showed that users are returning to the new Time and Well-being space more frequently than to previous screen-time settings, with the affirmation journal emerging as the most popular feature.
