Travel Advisory: Enhanced Border Safety Measures Implemented in Eastern and Northeastern Thailand

The Tourism Authority of Thailand confirms normal tourism activities in the country. However, heightened security measures, including martial law and curfews, are in effect near the Thailand-Cambodia border.

Current Situation

As of December 14, 2025, the Tourism Authority of Thailand (TAT) assures that tourism activities across the nation remain unaffected, except for heightened security in seven provinces along the Thailand–Cambodia border. These provinces include Ubon Ratchathani, Si Sa Ket, Surin, Buri Ram, Sa Kaeo, Chanthaburi, and Trat. Martial law and curfews are enforced in specified districts, restricting movement between 19:00 and 05:00 Hrs. Despite these measures, major tourist destinations like Bangkok and Phuket continue normal operations.

Transport Adjustments

Domestic and international transport services such as air, rail, bus, and marine remain operational. However, temporary adjustments affect services to the impacted areas. The State Railway of Thailand has altered routes, suspending trips to the Ban Khlong Luek Border Checkpoint. Similarly, the Kantharalak Bus Terminal in Si Sa Ket is temporarily closed. Passengers on specific routes must use alternate boarding points. For assistance, contact the SRT or Transport Company Limited hotlines.

Security and Travel Advisory

Travellers should avoid restricted zones and checkpoints along the border, as security measures are in place with certain areas closed. Some affected locations in Ubon Ratchathani, Surin, Si Sa Ket, and other provinces mention specific zone closures. Travellers must respect security regulations and follow local authority guidelines. For accurate updates, visitors can contact the TAT Call Centre or the Tourist Police Hotline. This advisory will be updated as the situation evolves, and travellers are encouraged to check official channels for the latest information.
